Scope of Research and Selection Criteria
For this edition, 279,971 scientist profiles spanning all disciplines were initially examined from a variety of bibliometric data sources. Within this broad dataset, 127 scientists specializing in Electronics and Electrical Engineering were identified and considered for the ranking.
In order to qualify for inclusion, candidates were required to have a D-index of at least 30 and to demonstrate that a majority of their tiered publications were within the domain of Electronics and Electrical Engineering. Additionally, verified awards and achievements relevant to the field were taken into account to further substantiate their contributions.
The threshold for the D-index is determined incrementally in steps of 10 corresponding to the estimated number of scholars in each discipline, ensuring inclusion of approximately the top 1% of researchers. Furthermore, a proximity criterion was applied whereby the difference between a scientist’s general H-index and their D-index must be 30% or less, reinforcing that the ranking faithfully captures expertise specifically within the discipline.
Verification and Validation Practices
The Research.com team acknowledges that bibliometric data alone cannot serve as an absolute measure of scholarly output. Consequently, all scientist profiles included in the ranking were subjected to meticulous manual verification. This process involved cross-referencing publication records against a wide range of trustworthy and authoritative sources to corroborate the data integrity.
While the sheer number of papers published in prestigious journals and key conference proceedings does not directly impact a researcher’s ranking position, it constitutes an important secondary signal of scholarly contribution in the field.
Positions in the ranking are established exclusively through each researcher’s D-index calculated based on data from the prominent bibliometric databases OpenAlex and CrossRef. These platforms are widely recognized and trusted within the scholarly community for their breadth and quality of bibliometric information.
