The 9th edition of Research.com ranking of the best researchers in the
arena of Computer Science relies os data
consolidated from a wide range of data sources including OpenAlex and
CrossRef. The bibliometric data for devising the citation-based metrics were
gathered on 21-12-2022. Position in the ranking is based on a
researcher’s D-index (Discipline H-index), which
includes exclusively papers and citation

The focus of our Computer Science research
Our best scientists ranking is a trustworthy
list of leading researchers from the area of
Computer Science, created using a meticulous
analysis of 166,880 researchers discovered
from multiple bibliometric data sources. For the area of
Computer Science, as many as 14402 researchers were
investigated.
What is D-index approval threshold for Computer Science
The D-index threshold for approving a scholar to be
evaluated is placed at 30 if
the majority of of their publications are in the discipline of Computer Science. The
approval criteria for scientists to be
considered into the ranking of top scholars are based on the D-index, proportion
of the publications made within the given discipline
as well as the awards and achievements of the researchers. The
D-index threshold for including leading scientists is
set as an increment of 10 depending on the total number of scientists
projected for each area od study whilst
making sure that the top 1% of leading scholars are
added into the list. There should be a proximity of
30% or less between a scientist’s general H-index and their D-index.
Extra verification practices
Since our primary mission is to guarantee that only
credible scientists are included in
the ranking we believe that raw data are never
meant to be an absolute measure to evaluate the
output of researchers. This is why
we manually check each profile and cross-correlate it against publications in a
wide range of credible sources. Even though it’s not a
element impacting a scientist’s position in
our ranking, the amount of papers published in
major journals and conference proceedings should constitute a
credible secondary indication of their contribution to research in a
given field of study. Position in the ranking is
based on each scientist’s D-index
according to metrics compiled from OpenAlex and
CrossRef, which are the most credible and well-established bibliometric
databases of this kind open to the research community. A

in the world.
As far as scientific affiliations are concerned, the institution with the highest number of leading researchers in Netherlands is Delft University of Technology with 28 researchers affiliated with it being present in the Computer Science ranking. It is followed by Leiden University with 25 scholars. Ranking thirds is Radboud University Nijmegen with 19 researchers.

The average D-index for the top 3% scientists is 87 in comparison to an average of 43 for all 176 researchers included in Research.com ranking.
The average number of published articles within the discipline of Computer Science for the top 1% of scientists in the ranking is 652 against an average of 250 for all 176 researchers.
