The focus of our Medicine research
Our best researchers ranking is a trustworthy
account of leading scholars from the discipline of
Medicine, established by means of a detailed
study of 166,880 scientists identified
from various bibliometric data sources. For the discipline of
Medicine, more than 65743 scientists were
examined.
What is D-index inclusion threshold for Medicine
The D-index threshold for accepting a scientist to be
considered is placed at 70 if
the majority of of their publications are in the area of Medicine. The
approval factors for scholars to be
considered into the ranking of top scientists are based on the D-index, ratio
of the publications made within the specific area
plus the awards and achievements of the scientists. The
D-index threshold for including best scholars is
set as an increment of 10 depending on the total number of researchers
estimated for each scientific field whilst
making sure that the top 1% of best scholars are
incorporated into the ranking. There should be a proximity of
30% or less between a researcher’s general H-index and their D-index.
Extra verification methods
Since our primary aim is to make sure that only
genuine scholars are mentioned in
Research.com ranking we believe that numbers are never
supposed to be an absolute tool to evaluate the
output of researchers. Because of that
we manually verify every profile and cross-correlate it against publications in a
wide range of trustworthy sources. Although it’s not a
metric contributing to a researcher’s position in
the ranking, the number of papers published in
major journals and conference proceedings should form a
credible secondary signal of their contribution to research in a
specific area of science. Position in the ranking is
determined by each scientist’s D-index
with the help of information compiled from OpenAlex and
CrossRef, which are the most prominent and well-known bibliometric
databases of this type open to the scientific community. A
thorough definition of our research process
can be found on our
methodology page.
Our goal
Our mission is to inspire researchers,
companies and decision-makers
around the world to investigate where leading experts are heading
and to offer an opportunity for the whole research community to
discover who the leading experts in specific
areas of study, in various countries, or even within research
institutions are.
