A scientist’s position in the ranking is determined by their D-index (Discipline H-index), a refined bibliometric indicator that accounts exclusively for papers and citation metrics relevant to the discipline under examination. This discipline-focused approach provides a more accurate reflection of a researcher’s impact within Neuroscience specifically, rather than their overall scholarly output.
Scope of Research and Criteria for Ranking
The ranking examines a dataset of 279,971 scientist profiles compiled from a diverse array of bibliometric sources spanning all academic disciplines. From this extensive pool, 260 scientists specializing in Neuroscience were identified and evaluated for this edition. To qualify for inclusion, a scientist’s D-index in Neuroscience had to be at least 30, with the majority of their tier publications centered on Neuroscience topics.
