The 1st edition of Research.com ranking of the best researchers in the
discipline of Plant Science and Agronomy was created using data
derived from multiple data sources including OpenAlex and
CrossRef. The bibliometric data for evaluating the citation-based metrics were
collected on 06-12-2021. Position in the ranking is based on a
scientist's D-index (Discipline H-index), which
includes exclusively publications and citation
values for an examined discipline.

The scope of our Plant Science and Agronomy research
Our best researchers ranking is a trustworthy
lineup of leading scholars from the field of
Plant Science and Agronomy, established by means of a meticulous
analysis of 166,880 scientists determined
from various bibliometric data sources. For the area of
Plant Science and Agronomy, as many as 2580 scientists were
investigated.
What is D-index acceptance threshold for Plant Science and Agronomy
The D-index threshold for accepting a scholar to be
examined is set to 30 if
the majority of of their publications are in the field of Plant Science and Agronomy. The
approval factors for scientists to be
considered into the ranking of top scholars are based on the D-index, proportion
of the contributions made within the given area
in addition to the awards and achievements of the researchers. The
D-index threshold for listing best researchers is
set as an increment of 10 depending on the total number of scholars
projected for each area od study whilst
making sure that the top 1% of leading scientists are
incorporated into the list. There should be a proximity of
30% or less between a scholar’s general H-index and their D-index.
Other verification methods
Because our main aim is to guarantee that only
genuine scientists are included in
the ranking we believe that raw data are never
meant to be an absolute tool to assess the
work of scientists. Because of that
we manually verify each profile and cross-correlate it against publications in a
varied range of reliable sources. Although it’s not a
element impacting a scholar’s position in
our ranking, the number of documents published in
well-known journals and conference proceedings should form a
valuable secondary indication of their contribution to research in a
selected area of science. Position in the ranking is
determined by each scholar’s D-index
according to metrics gathered from OpenAlex and
CrossRef, which are the most prominent and well-known bibliometric
databases of this type open to the research community. A
comprehensive explanation of our research process
can be found on our
methodology page.
Our mission
Our mission is to inspire scholars,
entrepreneurs and administrative bodies
worldwide to examine where top experts are heading
and to provide a way for the entire scientific community to
find out who the leading experts in specific
fields of research, in various countries, or even within research
institutions are.
