The University of Dundee is one of the leading universities in Scotland, known for its strong academic programs in science and medicine, dynamic student union, and research impact. It is a member of the Association of Commonwealth Universities and the Dental School Councils. Once a part of the University of Saint Andrews, it is also considered a red brick university. As such, it offers quality education on par with some of the most prominent institutions in the United Kingdom.
Dundee is divided into 10 schools, covering disciplines like business, humanities, dentistry, social sciences, medicine, and art and design. Meanwhile, research in Dundee is conducted in its schools, which collectively have 69 research units. It has numerous competencies, with the most significant ones being pharmaceuticals, medicine, life sciences, engineering, humanities, computing, and art and design. Around 30% of the school’s earnings come from its research and it has collaborated with organizations and other universities from six continents.
Dundee’s campus is located near the River Tay and displays its heritage in its early 20th century and post-war buildings. It is home to a nationally recognized student union that promotes its members’ interests and provides convenient facilities like dining places and cozy study environments. The campus also has sports facilities, residential spots, cafeterias, and libraries. Moreover, Dundee has several student societies that leverage the city’s special features
Established in 1881, the University of Dundee was once a university college built to address the educational needs of Dundee’s rising population at the time. It was incorporated into the University of Saint Andrews as a constituent college. The college gained university status in 1967 and has opted to maintain some of the student traditions from its earlier years.
As of 2020, Dundee welcomes more than 11,400 undergraduates, 4,400 postgraduates, 1,400 teaching staff, and 1,800 administrative personnel. It has hatched a deal with its regional community in which the university will conduct and apply research in fields like forensic sciences, life sciences, and the discovery of new drugs. This is aimed at attracting more investors and generating more jobs.
Dundee’s notable alumni include Lynda Clark (politician), James Black (physician), Frank Doran (politician), B.C. Forbes (Forbes Magazine founder), Gary Lightbody (singer), and Fred MacAulay (comedian).
Moving forward into the future, Dundee plans to mold its learners through transformative research and education, with the students applying their scholastic knowledge to improve norms and change societies. The university also intends to become the top institution for higher education in Scotland.

D-index
D-index (Discipline H-index) only includes papers and citation values for an examined discipline in
contrast to General H-index which accounts for publications across all disciplines.
Our research was coordinated by Imed Bouchrika, PhD, a computer scientist with a well-established record
of collaboration on a number of international research projects with different partners from the academic
community. His role was to make sure all data remained unbiased, accurate, and up-to-date.
We list only scientists having Microsoft Academic Graph D-Index >= 40 within the area of
Biology and Biochemistry. If you or other scholars are not listed, we appreciate if you can
