Overview
Queen Mary University of London (QMUL) is a world-class public research-intensive university located in the city of London, England. Founded in 1785, the university is a constituent college of the preeminent University of London. As of 2019, it was ranked 12th among UK universities and it has been part of the prestigious Russell Group of research-oriented universities since 2012.
The university traces its roots back to 1123 when one of its founding institutions, St Bartholomew’s Hospital Medical College, was established. The earliest form of the modern-day university was formed in 1934 when East London College became Queen Mary College, named after Mary of Teck, the wife of King George V.
In 1989, the college merged with Westfield to form the Queen Mary and Westfield College. Six years later, the institution was integrated with the Royal London School of Medicine and Dentistry and St Bartholomew’s Hospital Medical College, before changing the name to its current form in 2000. Established to provide hope and opportunity to the less fortunate members of society, the university has remained true to its mission.
At present, Queen Mary University of London has morphed into the world-class institution its founders envisioned. It is home to more than 27,000 students, out of which over 12,000 are international students (including 2,800+ EU students and 10,000+ Non-EU and overseas students). In total, the university draws its students from over 160 nations across the world, making it one of the most inclusive institutions in the Russell Group.
In terms of location, QMUL has a presence in East and Central London with five campuses in Mile End (main campus), West Smithfield, Charterhouse Square, Lincoln’s Inn Field, and Whitechapel. The main campus at Mile End is recognized as the largest self-contained campus of any Russell Group university based in London. Beyond its campuses in London, the institution has footprints in Athens, Malta, Paris, and Singapore.
The university is organized around three faculties namely Humanities and Social Sciences, Medicine and Dentistry, and Science and Engineering, as well as an interdisciplinary institute of Life Sciences and Art and Culture. The faculties are further divided into schools, departments, and institutes.
With this organizational structure, the university offers more than 240 undergraduate and postgraduate degree programs. The Queen Mary University of London is known for its academic excellence, especially in fields such as Linguistics, History, Medicine, Robotics, Artificial Intelligence, Dentistry, Drama, and Film Studies. It is also the first university in the Russell Group to teach degree apprenticeship programs. In fact, it’s degree apprenticeship in social change is heralded as the world’s first.

D-index
D-index (Discipline H-index) only includes papers and citation values for an examined discipline in
contrast to General H-index which accounts for publications across all disciplines.
Our research was coordinated by Imed Bouchrika, PhD, a computer scientist with a well-established record
of collaboration on a number of international research projects with different partners from the academic
community. His role was to make sure all data remained unbiased, accurate, and up-to-date.
We list only scientists having D-Index >= 70 within the area of
Medicine. If you or other scholars are not listed, we appreciate if you can
