Overview
Lund University is one of Sweden’s oldest universities, with a history that can be traced as far back as the Middle Ages. The university is known for housing world-class facilities. One of them is the MAX IV Laboratory, which is the largest electron accelerator laboratory in Sweden used for synchrotron radiation research. The laboratory is also one of Lund University’s most ambitious projects, but with the help of organizations that provided funding, MAX IV Laboratory was successfully completed and inaugurated in 2016. Some of the organizations that provided fund assistance for MAX IV Laboratory are the Swedish Research Council, Region Skåne, VINNOVA, and the Knut and Alice Wallenberg Foundation. Aside from MAX IV, Lund University has over 30 research centers and institutes whose works are recognized internationally.
The university also takes pride in being one the universities with the most extensive list of programs offered, which include data analytics, language and linguistics, biotechnology, engineering, and more. Lund University also offers more than 700 stand-alone courses, such as computational astrophysics, molecular microbiology, global economy, economics and innovation, lexical semantics, and others.
Lund University’s academic programs are divided among schools and faculties that are spread across four campuses. Its main campus is located in the city of Lund, a bustling college town where the majority of faculties are located. Two other campuses are situated in the cities of Helsingborg and Malmö, and the last one can be found in the small municipality of Ljungbyhed.
Looking back at its history, the idea behind the establishment of an academy was brought to Charles X Gustav by Lund’s bishop. Lund University started as a small academy that was inaugurated by King Charles X Gustav in 1668 with the name Regia Academia Carolina. The academy originally covered four areas of discipline—theology, medicine, law, and philosophy—and the students, all of whom were male, graduated with qualifications to either be a pastor or a civil servant. The academy did not accept female students for another 200 years.
The 20th century was a significant turning point in the university’s history. It was during this era that rapid expansion began. This was the time when the university started fully embracing technological advancement and incorporating the latest innovations into the university’s research activities and programs. And in the beginning of the 21st century, Lund University reinforces its commitment to research and development as it continues to pursue its mission to be a world-renowned institution that can contribute to positive changes in the world.

D-index
D-index (Discipline H-index) only includes papers and citation values for an examined discipline in
contrast to General H-index which accounts for publications across all disciplines.
Our research was coordinated by Imed Bouchrika, PhD, a computer scientist with a well-established record
of collaboration on a number of international research projects with different partners from the academic
community. His role was to make sure all data remained unbiased, accurate, and up-to-date.
We list only scientists having Microsoft Academic Graph D-Index >= 70 within the area of
Medicine. If you or other scholars are not listed, we appreciate if you can
