The 2nd edition of Research.com ranking of the best scholars in the
discipline of Law was created using data
combined from a wide range of data sources including OpenAlex and
CrossRef. The bibliometric data for evaluating the citation-based metrics were
acquired on 21-12-2022. Position in the ranking is based on a
scientist's D-index (Discipline H-index), which
only includes publications and citation
values for an examined discipline.

The scope of our Law research
Our best researchers ranking is a credible
lineup of leading researchers from the discipline of
Law, created using a detailed
examination of 166,880 researchers identified
from a variety of bibliometric data sources. For the field of
Law, as many as 1698 scientists were
examined.
What is D-index approval threshold for Law
The D-index threshold for approving a scholar to be
considered is established at 20 if
most of their publications are in the area of Law. The
inclusion requirements for researchers to be
considered into the ranking of top researchers are based on the D-index, proportion
of the contributions made within the specific field of study
in addition to the awards and achievements of the scientists. The
D-index threshold for including leading researchers is
set as an increment of 10 depending on the total number of researchers
estimated for each scientific field whilst
ensuring that the top 1% of best scholars are
considered into the ranking. There should be a proximity of
30% or less between a scholar’s general H-index and their D-index.
Other verification practices
Since our leading aim is to guarantee that only
credible researchers are mentioned in
the ranking we realize that metrics are never
meant to be a full means to quantify the
work of scientists. Because of that
we manually inspect every profile and cross-correlate it against publications in a
broad range of trustworthy sources. Although it’s not a
element defining a researcher’s position in
the ranking, the quantity of papers published in
major journals and conference proceedings should constitute a
credible secondary indication of their contribution to research in a
selected field of study. Position in the ranking is
determined by each scientist’s D-index
according to data collected from OpenAlex and
CrossRef, which are the most prominent and well-known bibliometric
databases of this type available to the scientific community. A
detailed definition of our research procedures
can be found on our
methodology page.
Our goal
Our aim is to inspire scholars,
entrepreneurs and decision-makers
around the world to explore where leading experts are heading
and to give a way for the whole research community to
find out who the leading experts in specific
fields of research, in various countries, or even within research
institutions are.
