The 9th edition of Research.com ranking of the best researchers in the
discipline of Computer Science was created using data
derived from various data sources including OpenAlex and
CrossRef. The bibliometric data for devising the citation-based metrics were
acquired on 21-12-2022. Position in the ranking is based on a
scholar’s D-index (Discipline H-index), which
includes exclusively papers and citation
data for an examined discipline.

The scope of our Computer Science research
Research.com’s best scholars ranking is a credible
list of leading researchers from the field of
Computer Science, established by means of a meticulous
analysis of 166,880 scientists determined
from various bibliometric data sources. For the area of
Computer Science, over 14402 researchers were
examined.
What is D-index approval threshold for Computer Science
The D-index threshold for including a scholar to be
evaluated is placed at 30 if
most of their publications are in the area of Computer Science. The
inclusion factors for scientists to be
considered into the ranking of top researchers are based on the D-index, proportion
of the contributions made within the given field of study
as well as the awards and achievements of the scientists. The
D-index threshold for including leading researchers is
set as an increment of 10 depending on the total number of scientists
projected for each discipline whilst
guaranteeing that the top 1% of leading scholars are
added into the ranking. There should be a proximity of
30% or less between a scientist’s general H-index and their D-index.
Other verification practices
As our main aim is to ensure that only
credible scientists are included in
Research.com ranking we realize that numbers are never
supposed to be an absolute means to assess the
work of researchers. Because of that
we manually check each profile and cross-correlate it against publications in a
varied range of credible sources. Even though it’s not a
metric impacting a scholar’s position in
the ranking, the number of documents published in
well-known journals and conference proceedings should constitute a
reliable secondary indication of their contribution to research in a
selected discipline. Position in the ranking is
established using each researcher’s D-index
using data compiled from OpenAlex and
CrossRef, which are the most prominent and well-known bibliometric
databases of this kind available to the research community. A
thorough explanation of our research process
can be found on our
methodology page.
Our mission
Our aim is to motivate scholars,
businessmen and administrative bodies
around the world to examine where leading experts are heading
and to offer a way for the entire scientific community to
find out who the leading experts in specific
areas of study, in different countries, or even within research
institutions are.
