Best Materials Science Scientists in Russia

The 1st edition of Research.com ranking of the best scholars in the arena of Materials Science is based on data combined from a wide range of data sources including OpenAlex and CrossRef. The bibliometric data for evaluating the citation-based metrics were collected on 06-12-2021. Position in the ranking is based on a researcher’s D-index (Discipline H-index), which takes into account only publications and citation values for an examined discipline.

The range of our Materials Science research
Our best scientists ranking is a reliable lineup of leading scientists from the area of Materials Science, based on a meticulous examination of 166,880 scientists identified from various bibliometric data sources. For the area of Materials Science, as many as 11166 scholars were investigated.

What is D-index inclusion threshold for Materials Science
The D-index threshold for approving a researcher to be considered is established at 40 if the majority of of their publications are in the area of Materials Science. The acceptance factors for scientists to be considered into the ranking of top scientists are based on the D-index, proportion of the publications made within the selected discipline in addition to the awards and achievements of the scientists. The D-index threshold for listing best researchers is set as an increment of 10 depending on the overall number of scholars projected for each discipline whilst ensuring that the top 1% of leading researchers are added into the ranking. There should be a proximity of 30% or less between a scholar’s general H-index and their D-index.

Additional verification methods
Since our primary goal is to make sure that only genuine scientists are mentioned in Research.com ranking we are aware that raw data are never meant to be a complete tool to evaluate the output of scholars. For that reason we manually verify each profile and cross-correlate it against publications in a wide range of reliable sources. Even though it’s not a factor impacting a scientist’s position in the ranking, the quantity of documents published in major journals and conference proceedings should form a valuable secondary indication of their contribution to research in a given discipline. Position in the ranking is established using each researcher’s D-index according to data collected from OpenAlex and CrossRef, which are the most trustworthy and well-established bibliometric databases of this kind open to the scientific community. A comprehensive explanation of our research process can be found on our methodology page.

Our goal
Our mission is to inspire researchers, entrepreneurs and administrative bodies worldwide to explore where prominent experts are heading and to provide an opportunity for the entire scientific community to find out who the leading experts in specific areas of study, in different countries, or even within research institutions are.
