Werner Henle was affiliated with the University of Pennsylvania in the United States. Throughout their career, they contributed to the scientific community primarily through research and academic work linked to this institution.

Werner Henle received multiple recognitions and awards in acknowledgment of their contributions. These included becoming a Fellow of the American Association for the Advancement of Science (AAAS) in 1951. They were also awarded the E. Mead Johnson Award from the Society for Pediatric Research in 1950. Later, in 1971, they received the Robert Koch Prize. A few years afterward, in 1975, they became a Member of the National Academy of Sciences.
