Data Sources and Citation Metrics
The 5th edition of the Research.com Best Psychology Scientists in Denmark Ranking is grounded on a robust bibliometric foundation, predominantly leveraging data from OpenAlex and CrossRef, alongside multiple other authoritative data sources. The bibliometric data used to derive the citation-based metrics integral to the ranking were collected on 2026-01-12. A core component of the ranking methodology is the D-index (Discipline H-index), a refined metric that reflects a researcher’s impact within a specific discipline by including only papers and citations pertinent to the examined field—in this case, Psychology. This approach allows for a focused evaluation of scholarly contributions within the discipline, ensuring discipline-relevant impact is prioritized.
Scope of Research and Qualification Criteria
Our analysis encompassed a comprehensive dataset of 279,971 scientist profiles drawn from a variety of bibliometric sources, covering all academic disciplines. Specifically, for Psychology, we identified and examined 29 scientists. To qualify for inclusion in this ranking, a researcher’s D-index was required to be at least 30, with the majority of their tier publications concentrated in the field of Psychology. Additionally, a scientist's awards and notable achievements within Psychology were taken into account to reflect their broader scholarly influence.
The threshold for the D-index is set in increments of 10 based on the estimated total number of scholars in each discipline, ensuring that the top 1% of leading experts are consistently incorporated in the list. Moreover, there is a criterion that the proximity between a scientist’s general H-index and their D-index does not exceed 30%, thereby affirming the discipline-specific focus of each profile included in the ranking.
Verification Practices and Ranking Methodology
Recognizing the limitations inherent in raw bibliometric data, the researchers behind this ranking have implemented rigorous verification practices to enhance accuracy and credibility. Every scientist profile underwent manual scrutiny and was cross-correlated against publications indexed in a broad range of trustworthy and reputable sources. This manual verification process serves to mitigate errors and ensure the integrity of the ranking.
While the position in the ranking is exclusively determined by each researcher's D-index as derived from OpenAlex and CrossRef—both globally recognized for their comprehensive and reliable bibliometric data—the number of papers published in prominent journals and conference proceedings is also considered a valuable secondary indicator of research contribution. Although this factor does not directly influence ranking placement, it helps provide a fuller picture of the scientist’s research footprint and impact within the discipline.
