Data Sources and Citation Metrics
The 5th edition of the Research.com Best Business and Management Scientists in Korea Ranking is primarily based on comprehensive bibliometric data sourced from OpenAlex and CrossRef, supplemented by multiple other validated data repositories. The bibliometric data used to devise the citation-based metrics for this ranking were collected on 2026-01-12, ensuring the evaluation is founded on the most recent and reliable information available. A scientist’s position in the ranking is rigorously determined by their D-index (Discipline H-index), which accounts exclusively for papers and citation metrics relevant to the Business and Management discipline. This targeted approach ensures that each researcher’s impact is measured within their specific area of expertise, reflecting their true scholarly contributions.
Scope of Research and Qualification Criteria
This edition examined an extensive set of 279,971 scientist profiles identified from a diverse range of bibliometric sources across all research disciplines. Within the Business and Management discipline, 22 scientists were identified who met the criteria for inclusion in the ranking.
To qualify, a scientist’s D-index had to meet a minimum threshold of 30, and a majority of their tier publications were required to be within the Business and Management field. Additionally, a candidate’s awards and notable achievements in this discipline were taken into account to provide a more comprehensive assessment of their scholarly impact.
The D-index threshold is strategically calibrated in increments of 10 relative to the estimated total number of scholars in each discipline. This approach guarantees that the ranking incorporates the top 1% of leading experts in the field. Furthermore, the methodology ensures there is no more than a 30% difference between a scientist’s general H-index and their D-index, promoting consistency in evaluating a researcher’s discipline-specific and overall academic influence.
Additional Verification and Methodological Rigor
The team behind this ranking is keenly aware that raw bibliometric data alone cannot serve as an absolute measure of scholarly output. Consequently, all scientist profiles underwent meticulous manual verification and were cross-correlated against publications indexed in a wide spectrum of trustworthy academic sources. This additional layer of verification underpins the credibility of the ranking and ensures an accurate reflection of each researcher’s contributions.
While the number of papers published in prominent journals and conference proceedings does not directly affect a researcher’s ranking position, it remains a valuable secondary signal that underscores the scientist’s influence within specific scientific communities.
The final position in the ranking is determined by using each researcher’s D-index, calculated based on validated information gathered from OpenAlex and CrossRef—two of the most reputable and widely recognized bibliometric databases used by the research community globally.
