Overview
Tampere University is a public university located in Finland. It is the second-largest university in the country, serving over 30,000 students, 330 professors, and 4,400 other staff. It offers the broadest range of undergraduate, postgraduate, and doctoral programs in Finland. The university also provides numerous degree courses in internationally recognized fields of study, making it a popular choice among students who want to study abroad.
It is currently organized into six faculties: Faculty of Education, Faculty of Communication Sciences, Faculty of Medicine and Life Sciences, Faculty of Natural Sciences, Faculty of Management, and Faculty of Social Sciences. As one of the top multidisciplinary universities in Finland, it offers various programs with Finnish and English as the official languages of instruction.
Situated in the vibrant city of Tampere, the university was established as a result of the merging of two separate institutions, the University of Tampere and the Tampere University of Technology. With Tampere being the most important industrial center in the country since the 19th century, lawmakers founded the two technical institutions and fostered between them close relations and cooperation in the fields of computer science, economics, medical technology, and biotechnology.
In 2014, the merger process began, with the two institutions discussing a reform and new objectives for the establishment of another university. Finally, the merger was approved by the Finnish Parliament in 2017 and came into effect in January 2019. In the same year, Tampere University opened its doors to over 28,000 students, becoming the second most applied university in Finland. The university is also the majority shareholder of Tampere University of Applied Sciences, one of the Finland’s largest and most popular universities of applied sciences.
As a technical institution, the university has competitive edges in health, sciences, and technology. Its education curriculum strongly focuses on the application of technology and social sciences in addressing global challenges and real-life situations. It also provides an excellent research environment and resources to conduct world-class and multidisciplinary research across institutional boundaries.
Known for its excellence in teaching and research, the university has established partnerships with hundreds of universities and key organizations worldwide. It is also an active member of several international university networks, including the European Consortium of Innovative Universities, Alliance of Guangzhou International Sister-City Universities, the European University Association & EUA Council for Doctoral Education, and the Helsinki Institute of Physics.

D-index
D-index (Discipline H-index) only includes papers and citation values for an examined discipline in
contrast to General H-index which accounts for publications across all disciplines.
Our research was coordinated by Imed Bouchrika, PhD, a computer scientist with a well-established record
of collaboration on a number of international research projects with different partners from the academic
community. His role was to make sure all data remained unbiased, accurate, and up-to-date.
We list only scientists having D-Index >= 70 within the area of
Medicine. If you or other scholars are not listed, we appreciate if you can
