Data Sources and Methodology
The 5th edition of the Research.com Best Plant Science and Agronomy Scientists in Bangladesh Ranking is based on comprehensive bibliometric data primarily sourced from OpenAlex and CrossRef, along with multiple other reputable data repositories. Bibliometric data for devising citation-based metrics were collected as of January 12, 2026. Each scientist’s position in the ranking is determined by their Discipline H-index (D-index), a refined metric that accounts exclusively for the papers and citation counts pertinent to the examined discipline of Plant Science and Agronomy. This approach ensures precision in evaluating scholarly impact within the specified field.
Scope of Research and Selection Criteria
The ranking undertook an extensive examination of 279,971 scientist profiles compiled from a broad array of bibliometric sources spanning all research disciplines. From this dataset, 6 scientists specializing in Plant Science and Agronomy in Bangladesh were identified for detailed assessment.
To qualify for the ranking, a scientist’s D-index had to meet or exceed a threshold of 30, underscoring a high level of disciplinary achievement. Additionally, the majority of their tiered publications were required to be directly related to Plant Science and Agronomy. Consideration was also given to distinguished awards and achievements specific to this field.
The D-index threshold is calibrated using increments of 10 relative to the total estimated number of scholars in the discipline, thereby ensuring inclusion of the top 1% of leading experts. Furthermore, a proximity requirement of 30% or less between a scientist’s general H-index and their D-index is applied to affirm consistency between their overall and discipline-specific impact.
Additional Verification and Validation Practices
Recognizing the limitations inherent in raw bibliometric data, the team behind this ranking undertook meticulous manual verification of all scientist profiles. This process involved cross-referencing publication records against a wide range of authoritative and trustworthy sources to validate the accuracy of the data.
While the number of publications in prominent journals and conference proceedings does not directly influence a researcher’s ranking position, it provides a valuable secondary signal of scholarly contribution within Plant Science and Agronomy.
The ranking itself is determined solely by each researcher’s D-index using data aggregated from OpenAlex and CrossRef, which are internationally recognized as two of the most comprehensive and reliable bibliometric databases accessible to the research community.
