Scope of the Research

The foundation of the ranking lies in an extensive analysis encompassing 279,971 scientist profiles identified via a comprehensive aggregation of bibliometric data sources. Out of these, 43,427 researchers with primary specialization in Animal Science and Veterinary were specifically analyzed. Eligibility for inclusion required each scientist to have a D-index of at least 20, with the majority of their top-tier publications situated within Animal Science and Veterinary. Furthermore, substantial consideration was given to the individual researcher’s awards and notable achievements in the field.

To align with the scale of each discipline, the D-index threshold for inclusion amongst leading scholars was adjusted in increments of 10, ensuring that the list reliably represents the top 1% of experts globally in Animal Science and Veterinary. An additional criteria was that the proximity between a scientist’s general H-index and their D-index should be 30% or less, further validating disciplinary focus. Awards and field-specific achievements were also weighed in order to add a qualitative assessment dimension to the quantitative evaluation.

Verification and Quality Assurance Practices

Recognizing the inherent limitations of relying solely on raw bibliometric data, the Research.com team instituted rigorous verification processes. Each scientist profile was subject to manual validation and cross-referenced with publication records from trustworthy and authoritative sources. While not directly influencing the rank placement, the volume of publications in leading journals and conference proceedings is acknowledged as an important indicator of contributions within the field of Animal Science and Veterinary Sciences.

Ranking positions were determined by each scientist’s H-index, as compiled from OpenAlex and CrossRef—two of the most widely respected and comprehensive bibliometric databases available.
