The 5th edition of the Research.com Best Plant Science and Agronomy Scientists in Zimbabwe Ranking is grounded in a comprehensive and robust collection of data gathered primarily from OpenAlex and CrossRef, complemented by multiple other reputable bibliometric sources. These platforms provide extensive and high-quality bibliometric data, enabling a precise evaluation of scientific publications and citations. The citation-based metrics that serve as the basis of the ranking were meticulously compiled on January 12, 2026. The ranking methodology utilizes the D-index (Discipline H-index), a refined metric that exclusively considers papers and citation impacts within the examined discipline, ensuring a focused and relevant assessment of each researcher’s influence in Plant Science and Agronomy.
Scope of Research and Qualification Criteria
Our analysis incorporated an extensive pool of 279,971 scientist profiles drawn from diverse bibliometric data sources across all scientific disciplines. Within this expansive dataset, 2 scientists specializing in Plant Science and Agronomy in Zimbabwe were specifically examined for inclusion. To qualify for the ranking, a scientist’s D-index had to meet a minimum threshold of 30, alongside the requirement that the majority of their tier publications be firmly rooted in Plant Science and Agronomy. Additionally, a researcher’s awards and notable achievements within the discipline were taken into account to further validate their standing. The D-index threshold is carefully calibrated in increments of 10 relative to the estimated total number of scholars in each discipline, thereby ensuring that the list encapsulates the top 1% of leading experts. An important consistency criterion mandates that the difference between a scientist’s overall H-index and their D-index does not exceed 30%, guaranteeing the representativeness of their discipline-specific impact.

Recognizing the limitations of raw bibliometric data as sole evaluative tools, the Research.com team conducted a rigorous manual verification of all scientist profiles included in the ranking. This entailed cross-referencing individual publication records against a wide array of trusted sources to uphold the highest standards of accuracy and reliability. While the number of publications in prominent journals and conference proceedings does not directly influence ranking positions, such data serve as valuable secondary indicators of a researcher’s contributions within Plant Science and Agronomy. The primary ranking position is established using each researcher’s D-index derived from OpenAlex and CrossRef—the most prominent bibliometric databases available to the academic community.
