All bibliometric data employed to devise the citation-based metrics for this ranking were collected on January 12, 2026. A researcher’s position in the ranking is determined by their Discipline H-index (D-index), a refined bibliometric indicator that focuses exclusively on papers and citations pertinent to the examined discipline, ensuring an accurate assessment of impact within Plant Science and Agronomy.
Scope of Research and Qualification Criteria
Our study initially examined a total of 279,971 scientist profiles identified from a diverse array of bibliometric sources covering all scientific disciplines. From this extensive dataset, 7 scientists specifically active in the field of Plant Science and Agronomy in Estonia were selected for detailed evaluation.
To qualify for inclusion in this ranking, scientists were required to meet a minimum D-index of 30, and a majority of their tier publications needed to be within the Plant Science and Agronomy area. In addition to bibliometric thresholds, scientists’ awards and notable achievements relevant to the field were also taken into consideration to further validate their standing.
The D-index threshold is carefully set in increments of 10, calibrated according to the estimated total number of scholars within each discipline. This approach guarantees that the top 1% of leading scholars are incorporated into the ranking while maintaining discipline-specific rigor. Furthermore, to ensure consistency, a proximity of 30% or less between a scientist’s overall H-index and their D-index is required.
Verification Practices and Methodological Rigor
Recognizing that raw data alone cannot fully capture the breadth and depth of scholarly contributions, the Research.com team undertook meticulous manual verification of all scientist profiles included in this ranking. This process involved cross-correlating publication records against a wide range of trusted sources to authenticate the accuracy and relevance of each researcher’s portfolio.
Although the number of papers published in prestigious journals and conference proceedings does not directly influence the ranking position, it serves as a valuable secondary indicator of a scientist’s impact and contribution within Plant Science and Agronomy.
Ultimately, the position of each researcher is established based on their D-index, as derived from data collected from OpenAlex and CrossRef—two of the most prominent and respected bibliometric databases accessible to the global research community.
