Position in the ranking is based on each scientist’s D-index using data compiled from Microsoft Graph
by December 6th 2021.
This ranking lists all the best researchers from the Materials Science discipline and
affiliated with Nanjing University of Science and Technology.
There are a total of 16 researchers included with 1 of them also being included in the global ranking.
The total sum for the D-index values for the best scientists
in Nanjing University of Science and Technology is 852 with a mean value for
the h-index of 53.25. The total sum of
publications for the best scientists in Nanjing University of Science and Technology is 3,163 with the
mean value for publications per scientist of 197.69.
Nanjing University of Science and Technology (NJUST) is a public university based in Xuanwu in the eastern side of Nanjing, China, with an emphasis on science courses. Founded in 1953, it is one of the universities supported by China’s Ministry of Industry and Information Technology as a key institution to help the country achieve world prominence in science and related fields.
While the university is known for its academic programs in science and engineering, NJUST is a multidisciplinary institution offering courses in liberal arts, business, economics, management, education, and law. Undergraduate and graduate degrees are conferred across 15 schools covering around 70 bachelor’s degrees, 116 master’s degrees, and 49 doctorate degrees. There are also 14 postdoctoral research programs.
The engineering academic programs are grouped by fields of study, as is standard in Western universities. These include separate schools for mechanical engineering, chemical engineering, electronic and optoelectronic technology engineering. Other engineering schools are the School of Materials Science, the School of Environmental and Biological Engineering, the School of Energy and Power Engineering, and the Sino-French Engineer School.
Nontechnical courses are likewise separated by specialty such as for politics and governance—the School of Foreign Studies, the School of Public Affairs, and the School of Marxism—and for education, the School of International Education and the School of Continuing Education. Computer Science is under its own school.
Other schools are designated for specific fields such as science, economics and management, intellectual property and design and communication.
Nanjing University of Science and Technology actively pursues research projects, notably in weapons science and technology. It is one of the universities in China authorized to build nearly a thousand “national innovation programs.” Furthermore, it is classified a “Double First Class University” by China’s Ministry of Education, reflecting its stature as a university at the cutting-edge of technological developments.
The university has progressed into a world-class institution from its beginnings as a military school. In 1952, it was established as the Department of Artillery Engineering of the Institute of Military Engineering to support the country’s national army. Its name would change several times as the university’s focus also changed and evolved to civilian applications. Its current name was introduced in 1993 and, by 2000, the university started offering graduate programs. Today, NJUST is under the administration of the Ministry of Industry and Information Technology.
Notable alumni include personalities in science and politics, namely Wang Zeshan (science, specialist in explosives), Ren Xinmin (aerospace engineering, specialist in liquid rocket engine technology), and Lu Zhangong (politics, vice chairman of the Chinese People’s Political Consultative Conferences).
D-index (Discipline H-index) only includes papers and citation values for an examined discipline in
contrast to General H-index which accounts for publications across all disciplines.
Nanjing University of Science and Technology,
Our research was coordinated by Imed Bouchrika, PhD, a computer scientist with a well-established record
of collaboration on a number of international research projects with different partners from the academic
community. His role was to make sure all data remained unbiased, accurate, and up-to-date.
We list only scientists having Microsoft Academic Graph D-Index >= 40 within the area of
