Overview

The University of Nottingham is a public research university with a 330-acre main campus located in University Park, just a few miles from the center of Nottingham, United Kingdom. Founded in 1881, it was subsequently granted a royal charter in 1948. The university is a member of the Russell Group Association, which counts in its roster some of the most research-intensive educational institutions in the country.

Along with University Park, the University of Nottingham also owns and operates three other campuses—including Queen's Medical Centre, a teaching hospital, and the Jubilee Campus—in Nottinghamshire and Derbyshire. The university also operates two notable campuses in Semenyih, Malaysia and Ningbo, China.

The University of Nottingham runs more than 50 schools, institutes, research centers, and departments, all of which are handled by five constituent faculties. The university is the choice of around 50,000 students and staff.

The university's faculties include the Faculty of Social Sciences, Faculty of Science, Faculty of Engineering, Faculty of Humanities, and the Faculty of Medicine and Health Sciences.

The Faculty of Social Sciences offers Sociology and Social Policy, Politics and International Relations, Geography, Law, and Economics, among others.

The Faculty of Science is home to Computer Science, Physics and Astronomy, Chemistry, Biosciences, and Mathematical Sciences, among others.
