The focus of our Economics and Finance research
Research.com’s best universities ranking is a trustworthy lineup of
leading scientists from the discipline of Economics and Finance,
established by means of a meticulous examination of
166,880 scholars determined from multiple
bibliometric data sources. For the area of Economics and Finance, over
8163 scholars were examined.
What is D-index inclusion threshold for Economics and Finance
The D-index threshold for accepting a researcher to be
evaluated is placed at 30 if
the majority of of their publications are in the discipline of Economics and Finance. The
acceptance criteria for researchers to be
considered into the ranking of top scientists are based on the D-index,
ratio of the contributions made within the given
area plus the awards and achievements of the
scholars. The D-index threshold for listing top
scholars is set as an increment of 10 depending on the total number of
researchers projected for each
area od study whilst guaranteeing that the top 1% of
best researchers are considered into the ranking.
We expect a proximity of 30% or less between a scholar’s
general H-index and their D-index.
Additional verification methods
As our leading aim is to guarantee that only
credible scientists are included in
the ranking we are aware that numbers are never
supposed to be an absolute measure to quantify the
contributions of scholars. For that reason
we manually check every profile and cross-correlate it against publications in a
wide range of trustworthy sources. Although it’s not a
element contributing to a scientist’s position in
the ranking, the number of papers published in
major journals and conference proceedings should form a
valuable secondary implication of their contribution to research in a
given area of science. Position in the ranking is
determined by every researcher’s D-index
using information compiled from OpenAlex and
CrossRef, which are the most prominent and well-known bibliometric
databases of this kind available to the research community. A
comprehensive overview of our research policy
can be found on our
methodology page.
Our agenda
Our objective is to inspire scientists,
companies and decision-makers
around the world to investigate where leading experts are heading
and to offer a way for the whole research community to
get to know who the leading experts in specific
fields of research, in different countries, or even within research
institutions are.
