Bibliometric data used for the citation-based metrics integral to the ranking were collected on January 12, 2026. A scientist’s position within the ranking is determined by their H-index, a widely respected metric that captures both productivity and citation impact.
Scope of Research Considered
A total of 279,971 scientist profiles, identified through a diverse array of bibliometric databases, were examined spanning all major scientific disciplines. The qualifying H-index thresholds were set differently across research areas, typically requiring a minimum H-index of 30 or 40 to qualify. Beyond bibliometric measures, consideration was also given to each scientist’s awards and notable achievements within their respective fields.
Only the top 1,000 scientists with the highest H-index scores, reflective of sustained and impactful research productivity, are featured in this ranking, showcasing the most outstanding emerging scholars across the scientific landscape.
Verification Practices and Validation
We recognize that raw bibliometric data alone cannot fully capture the nuanced value of scholarly contributions. Therefore, all scientist profiles featured in the ranking underwent meticulous manual verification. This process involved cross-correlating publications against a broad spectrum of authoritative sources to ensure the accuracy and integrity of each profile.
While not a direct factor influencing a researcher’s ranking position, the quantity of papers published in leading journals and prestigious conference proceedings is acknowledged as a valuable secondary indicator of a scientist’s contribution to their field.
The ranking’s primary metric, the H-index, is calculated using carefully aggregated data from OpenAlex and CrossRef—two of the most prominent and trusted bibliometric databases accessible to the research community.
