The 5th edition of the Research.com Best Engineering and Technology Scientists in Iran Ranking is primarily constructed using comprehensive bibliometric data harvested from OpenAlex and CrossRef, complemented by multiple other reputable data sources. The citation-based metrics essential for devising this ranking were meticulously collected on January 12, 2026. A scientist’s position in the ranking is determined by their D-index (Discipline H-index), which specifically accounts for papers and citation metrics within the examined discipline of Engineering and Technology. This discipline-focused metric ensures that the evaluation reflects expertise and contribution within the relevant research domain.
Scope of Research and Selection Criteria
The scope of this ranking encompasses an extensive examination of 279,971 scientist profiles identified from a variety of trusted bibliometric data sources across all scientific disciplines. Within this broad dataset, 143 scientists specializing in Engineering and Technology were carefully evaluated.
To qualify for inclusion in the ranking, a scientist’s D-index must be at least 30, and the majority of their tier publications need to be within the field of Engineering and Technology. Additionally, consideration was given to notable awards and achievements that demonstrate excellence within the discipline. The D-index threshold for top researchers is adjusted in increments of 10, calibrated to the estimated total number of scholars in each discipline while ensuring representation of the top 1% of leading experts. Furthermore, a proximity threshold is maintained such that the difference between a scientist’s overall H-index and their D-index does not exceed 30%, securing alignment between general scholarly impact and discipline-specific contributions.

The research team behind this ranking acknowledges the limitations of raw bibliometric data when used in isolation to evaluate scholarly output. Consequently, all scientist profiles were subjected to rigorous manual verification and cross-correlation against publications listed in a wide array of trustworthy and authoritative sources. Although the number of papers published in prominent journals and conference proceedings is not a direct factor influencing a researcher’s position within the Research.com ranking, it is recognized as a valuable secondary indicator reflecting a scientist’s substantive contributions to their field.
The ranking itself is established strictly using the D-index, based on information aggregated from OpenAlex and CrossRef—two of the most prominent and widely recognized bibliometric databases accessible to the research community.
