Data Sources and Ranking Methodology
The 5th edition of the Research.com Best Business and Management Scientists in Saudi Arabia Ranking is primarily based on bibliometric data collected from leading open-access databases, including OpenAlex and CrossRef, alongside multiple other reputable scholarly data sources. The citation-based metrics used to formulate the rankings were extracted on January 12, 2026. Central to the ranking methodology is the D-index (Discipline H-index), a metric that evaluates a researcher's impact within a specific discipline by considering only those papers and citations relevant to the examined field—in this case, Business and Management. This ensures that the ranking accurately reflects expertise and influence specific to the discipline.
Scope of Research and Qualification Criteria
Our evaluation began with an extensive examination of 279,971 scientist profiles derived from various bibliometric data sources spanning all academic disciplines. Among these, 5,000 scientists were identified within Business and Management specifically. To qualify for inclusion in the ranking, a scientist’s D-index had to be at least 30, and a majority of their tier publications were required to be within Business and Management. Additionally, a scientist’s awards and recognized achievements in the field played a role in their consideration.
The D-index threshold is dynamically calibrated in increments of 10, depending on the estimated total number of scholars within each discipline, thereby ensuring the inclusion of the top 1% of leading researchers. Furthermore, to confirm disciplinary specialization, it is required that there be no more than a 30% difference between a scientist’s general H-index and their D-index. This rigorous approach guarantees that the ranking highlights researchers who demonstrate both impact and consistency specifically within Business and Management.
Verification and Validation Practices
Understanding the limitations of raw bibliometric data as an absolute measure of scholarly output, our research team undertook diligent manual verification of all scientist profiles. Each profile was cross-correlated against publication records in an extensive array of trustworthy academic sources to ensure accuracy and authenticity. While the number of publications in prominent journals and conference proceedings does not directly affect position within the Research.com ranking, it constitutes a valuable secondary indicator of a researcher’s contribution and influence in their specific scientific domain.
The ranking positions are ultimately determined by researchers’ D-index scores, which were calculated based on data obtained from OpenAlex and CrossRef—two of the most prominent and well-established bibliometric databases available to the scientific community.
