Data Sources and Citation Metrics
The 5th edition of the Research.com Best Animal Science and Veterinary Scientists in Indonesia Ranking is grounded in comprehensive bibliometric data sourced primarily from OpenAlex and CrossRef, complemented by multiple other reputable data repositories. These databases represent the most prominent and widely recognized sources within the scholarly community, providing extensive coverage of publication and citation records. The bibliometric data utilized to devise the citation-based metrics for this ranking were collected as of January 12, 2026.
Each scientist’s position within the ranking is determined by their D-index (Discipline H-index), a specialized metric that exclusively incorporates papers and citation counts pertinent to the discipline under examination—in this case, Animal Science and Veterinary. This targeted approach ensures that the ranking reflects meaningful contributions specifically within the disciplinary context.
Scope of Research and Qualification Criteria
The ranking draws from an expansive pool of 279,971 scientist profiles identified through diverse bibliometric data sources across all scientific disciplines. Specifically, two scientists within the field of Animal Science and Veterinary were examined for inclusion. To qualify for the ranking, a researcher must possess a D-index of at least 20, with a majority of their tier publications concentrated in the Animal Science and Veterinary area. Additionally, awards and professional achievements within this field are factored into the evaluation.
The threshold for the D-index is dynamically adjusted in increments of 10 depending on the estimated total number of scholars in each discipline. This methodology ensures that the ranking captures approximately the top 1% of leading researchers in the specified area. A proximity criterion is also employed, whereby the difference between a scientist’s overall H-index and their discipline-specific D-index must not exceed 30%, thereby confirming substantive engagement in the domain.
Verification Practices and Methodology Transparency
Recognizing that raw bibliometric data alone cannot provide an absolute measure of scholarly output, the Research.com team undertook additional verification practices. All scientist profiles were manually reviewed and cross-correlated against a wide range of credible publication sources to validate authenticity and contributions. Although not directly influencing the ranking position, the volume of papers published in prominent journals and conference proceedings serves as a valuable secondary indicator of a researcher’s impact within Animal Science and Veterinary.
The final ranking positions are established based on each researcher’s D-index, as derived from the integrated bibliometric information sourced from OpenAlex and CrossRef. These databases are acknowledged as the most authoritative bibliometric resources available to the global research community.
