Scope of the Research and Ranking Criteria
The ranking stems from an extensive evaluation of 279,971 scientist profiles identified across a wide spectrum of bibliometric sources covering all disciplines. Within this dataset, we specifically analyzed 20 scientists engaged in Animal Science and Veterinary studies. To qualify for inclusion in this ranking, a scientist must demonstrate a minimum D-index of 20, with a majority of their tier publications clearly situated in the Animal Science and Veterinary domain.
Beyond bibliometric measures, scientists’ awards and achievements pertinent to Animal Science and Veterinary were also incorporated as qualitative factors supporting the evaluation.
The threshold for the D-index is calibrated in increments of 10 relative to the estimated total number of scholars per discipline, a methodology designed to ensure representation of the top 1% of leading experts within the field. Furthermore, a permissible proximity of no more than 30% between a scientist’s general H-index and their discipline-specific D-index is maintained to confirm consistent influence within the examined area.

Recognizing that raw bibliometric data alone cannot serve as an absolute measure of scientific output or quality, the research team implemented rigorous verification procedures.
