The journey of these conferences began with the First International Conference on Concrete Pavement Design, held at Purdue University in West Lafayette, Indiana, USA on February 15-17, 1977, followed by the Second Conference in Indianapolis, Indiana on April 14-16, 1981. Both events were expertly planned and organized by Dr. Eldon J. Yoder, Professor of Civil Engineering at Purdue University. Dr. Yoder's lasting influence was commemorated with the Third International Conference, dedicated to his memory and contributions to the field, held at Purdue University on April 23-25, 1985. Subsequent conferences continued at Purdue University, with the Fourth and Fifth held in 1989 and 1993, respectively, and the Sixth in nearby Indianapolis, Indiana in 1997.
