Overview of the African Institute for Mathematical Sciences (AIMS)

The African Institute for Mathematical Sciences (AIMS) is a pan-African network of centers of excellence in mathematical sciences education and research, established in 2003. The inaugural campus is located in Muizenberg, Cape Town, South Africa, with subsequent centers founded in Senegal, Ghana, Cameroon, Rwanda, and Tanzania. As a non-profit, research-intensive institution, AIMS collaborates widely with universities worldwide. Its collective campuses host around 300 students annually, drawing talented individuals from across Africa. AIMS is globally recognized for pioneering models in mathematical and scientific capacity-building at the postgraduate level.
