Data Sources and Citation Metrics
The 5th edition of the Research.com Best Plant Science and Agronomy Scientists in Oman Ranking was developed using robust bibliometric data primarily sourced from OpenAlex and CrossRef, complemented by multiple other reputable data repositories. The citation-based metrics underpinning the ranking were collected on January 12, 2026, ensuring that the analysis reflects the most recent and comprehensive data available at that time. The core metric employed to determine each scientist’s position in the ranking is the D-index (Discipline H-index), which focuses exclusively on citation and publication data within the examined discipline of Plant Science and Agronomy. This targeted approach guarantees that the ranking accurately represents scholarly impact specific to the field.
Scope of Research and Eligibility Criteria
In constructing the ranking, an extensive dataset encompassing 279,971 scientist profiles spanning all academic disciplines was reviewed. Specifically, 4 scientists specializing in Plant Science and Agronomy were identified and examined in detail. To qualify for inclusion in the ranking, a scientist’s D-index had to be at least 30, with the majority of their tier publications firmly situated within the domain of Plant Science and Agronomy. Additionally, consideration was given to a scientist’s awards and notable achievements within the field to further affirm their standing.
The threshold for the D-index is dynamically adjusted in increments of 10 based on the estimated population of scholars within each discipline, to ensure the inclusion of the top 1% of leading researchers in the final list. Furthermore, an important quality control measure requires that the proximity between a scientist's general H-index and their D-index be 30% or less, safeguarding against discrepancies that could distort the relevance of disciplinary impact.
Verification Practices and Methodological Rigor
Understanding the limitations inherent in raw bibliometric data, the team responsible for this ranking conducted meticulous manual verification of all scientist profiles. This process involved cross-correlation of publication records against a wide array of authoritative and trustworthy sources. Although the quantity of papers published in prominent journals and conference proceedings is not directly factored into the ranking position, it remains a valuable secondary indicator of a researcher’s contribution to advancing knowledge in Plant Science and Agronomy.
Ultimately, ranking positions are established solely on the D-index derived from data aggregated via OpenAlex and CrossRef, recognized as the most comprehensive and esteemed bibliometric databases available to the scientific community.
