Data Sources and Citation Metrics
The 5th edition of the Research.com Best Animal Science and Veterinary Scientists in Cameroon Ranking is grounded on comprehensive bibliometric data primarily sourced from OpenAlex and CrossRef, along with multiple other reputable bibliographic databases. The citation-based metrics used to develop the ranking were carefully collected on January 12, 2026. Central to the positioning of each scientist is their D-index (Discipline H-index), a metric that reflects a researcher's scholarly impact exclusively within the examined discipline of Animal Science and Veterinary, thereby ensuring a focused and relevant evaluation of research contributions.
Scope and Criteria of Research Evaluation
This ranking draws from an extensive analysis of 279,971 scientist profiles compiled across a broad range of disciplines. Specifically, 1,000 scientists identified within Animal Science and Veterinary were assessed to determine inclusion. To qualify for the ranking, a scientist's D-index must be at least 20, and a majority of their tier publications must be concentrated within the Animal Science and Veterinary domain.
In addition to bibliometric thresholds, consideration was given to scientists' awards and notable achievements within the field, further enriching the robustness of the assessment. The D-index qualification threshold is dynamically set in increments of 10 relative to the total scholar population estimated for each discipline, ensuring the top 1% of leading researchers are consistently incorporated. Furthermore, to maintain disciplinary specificity, the proximity between a scientist’s general H-index and their D-index is constrained to 30% or less.
Additional Verification Practices
Recognizing that raw bibliometric data cannot serve as an absolute measure of scholarly output, meticulous manual verification procedures were implemented. Each scientist profile was cross-checked against publications indexed in an array of trusted sources to ensure accuracy and validity. Although not directly influencing ranking positions, the number of publications in prominent journals and conference proceedings is acknowledged as a valuable secondary indicator of a scientist's impact within Animal Science and Veterinary research.
The ranking positions are ultimately determined using the D-index derived from data curated by OpenAlex and CrossRef, two of the most prominent and widely respected bibliometric databases available to the global research community.
