Ranking positions are determined by aggregating the D-indexes (Discipline H-index) of all qualifying scholars affiliated with a given institution whose main publication area is Business and Management. Importantly, the D-index incorporates only publications and citation data relevant to the examined discipline, ensuring the focus remains strictly on scholarly contributions within Business and Management.
Scope of Research and Scholar Evaluation Criteria
For the 2024 edition, a comprehensive examination was undertaken, analyzing 279,971 scientist profiles from a variety of leading bibliometric sources. Specifically, 9,829 scientists specializing in Business and Management were thoroughly evaluated. Inclusion in the ranking required a minimum D-index threshold of 30, with the majority of significant publications being in the field of Business and Management. In addition to quantitative metrics, researchers’ awards and professional achievements in the discipline were considered as part of the evaluation process.
To further refine the list of top-tier scholars, the threshold for the D-index was set to increase by increments of 10 according to the estimated total number of scholars in each discipline. This approach guarantees that the top 1% of leading researchers per discipline are adequately represented. An essential quality check was enforced to ensure proximity of 30% or less between a scientist’s general H-index and their D-index, strengthening the discipline-specific focus of the ranking. Once again, professional awards and accomplishments in Business and Management played a supporting role in the selection.
Verification Practices and Quality Assurance
Recognizing that raw data alone cannot provide a fully accurate measurement of academic performance, the Research.com team subjected all scientist profiles to a rigorous manual verification process. Each profile was cross-referenced against publications from a wide assortment of trustworthy academic sources to ensure accuracy and consistency. Although not a direct factor in the ranking, the number of papers published in highly regarded journals and major conference proceedings is recognized as a valuable secondary indicator of a researcher’s impact in their area of expertise.
Ranking positions are established using each researcher’s H-index as determined by data taken from OpenAlex and CrossRef—currently the most prominent bibliometric data platforms available. This methodological framework guarantees both the credibility and reliability of the ranking.
