Data Sources and Citation Metrics
The 5th edition of the Research.com Best Molecular Biology Scientists in Argentina Ranking is primarily based on bibliometric data aggregated from leading academic databases, notably OpenAlex and CrossRef, complemented by multiple other high-quality data sources. To ensure accuracy and relevance, the citation-based metrics were collected on January 12, 2026. A scientist’s position in this ranking is determined by their Discipline-specific H-index, known as the D-index, which exclusively accounts for publications and citation metrics within the examined discipline, ensuring a focused and precise evaluation of scholarly impact in Molecular Biology.
Scope of Research and Qualification Criteria
Our assessment examined a total of 187,969 scientist profiles drawn from a broad spectrum of bibliometric repositories, encompassing all academic disciplines. Within this expansive dataset, 2 scientists specializing explicitly in Molecular Biology were identified and analyzed. To qualify for inclusion in the Molecular Biology ranking, a researcher’s D-index needed to meet or exceed a threshold of 40. Additionally, the majority of a qualifying scientist’s tier publications had to be concentrated in Molecular Biology. Awards and professional achievements relevant to the field were also considered to provide a more comprehensive evaluation.
The D-index thresholds used to identify top researchers are scaled by increments of 10, calibrated according to the estimated total number of scholars within each discipline. This approach guarantees that approximately the top 1% of leading scholars are represented in the list. Furthermore, the methodology ensures that there is a proximity of 30% or less between a researcher’s overall H-index and their discipline-specific D-index, maintaining a consistent focus on excellence strictly within Molecular Biology.
Verification and Methodological Rigor
Our research team acknowledges that raw bibliometric data alone is insufficient to capture the complete quality and impact of a scholar’s output. Accordingly, all scientist profiles included in the ranking underwent manual verification and were systematically cross-correlated against publications indexed in a wide range of reliable and reputable sources. While not a direct factor in rank positioning, the count of publications in high-impact journals and prestigious conference proceedings serves as a valuable secondary signal of a scientist’s substantive contributions to the field.
The position of each scientist in the ranking is firmly established using their D-index derived from data curated from OpenAlex and CrossRef, both of which are internationally recognized and widely respected bibliometric databases.
