Data Sources and Metrics
The 5th edition of the Research.com Best Mechanical and Aerospace Engineering Scientists in Egypt Ranking is primarily grounded on bibliometric data compiled from leading open-access databases, including OpenAlex and CrossRef, along with multiple supplementary data sources. The comprehensive citation and publication data used to generate citation-based metrics for this ranking were collected on January 12, 2026. Each scientist’s position within the ranking is determined by their D-index (Discipline H-index), a metric that specifically accounts for papers and citations within the examined discipline, thereby providing a focused and discipline-relevant evaluation of research impact.
Scope of Research
The ranking encompasses a rigorous examination of 279,971 scientist profiles aggregated from a diverse array of bibliometric sources across all disciplines. Specifically, 4 scientists specializing in Mechanical and Aerospace Engineering within Egypt were evaluated. To qualify for inclusion in this ranking, a scientist’s D-index must meet a minimum threshold of 30, with a majority of their tier publications falling within the Mechanical and Aerospace Engineering domain. Additionally, scientists’ awards and recognized achievements in the field contributed to the evaluation process.
The D-index threshold for top-tier researchers is adjusted incrementally by 10 points depending on the estimated total number of scholars within each discipline, ensuring the inclusion of the top 1% of leading experts. Moreover, to maintain relevance and precision, there is a limit of 30% or less disparity between a scientist’s general H-index and their D-index, ensuring that their primary impact lies within the dedicated field of Mechanical and Aerospace Engineering.
Verification Practices
Recognizing the limitations of raw bibliometric data as an absolute measure of scholarly output, the Research.com team employed meticulous manual verification procedures. Each scientist’s profile was cross-examined against a wide selection of trusted scholarly sources to confirm data accuracy and authenticity. Although not a factor in determining ranking positions, the quantity of papers published in reputable journals and conference proceedings serves as a valuable secondary indicator of a scientist’s contributions within their specific discipline.
The ranking positions are ultimately established based on each researcher’s D-index, determined from authoritative data aggregated via OpenAlex and CrossRef — two of the most prominent and widely respected bibliometric databases accessible to the global research community.
