A researcher’s position within the ranking is determined exclusively by their D-index (Discipline H-index), a metric specifically designed to reflect the scholarly output and citation impact within the examined discipline—in this case, Mathematics. This focus ensures that the ranking measures domain-specific influence rather than general academic impact.

Moreover, to maintain alignment between general and discipline-specific impact, a proximity threshold of 30% or less between a scientist's general H-index and their D-index was mandated.
