Data Sources and Citation Metrics
The 5th edition of the Research.com Best Immunology Scientists in Turkey Ranking is primarily derived from comprehensive bibliometric data sourced mainly from OpenAlex and CrossRef, in addition to multiple other reputable data sources. These platforms provide extensive, transparent, and up-to-date scientific publication and citation information, ensuring a robust foundation for the ranking. Bibliometric data for calculating the citation-based metrics used in this ranking were collected on January 12, 2026.
A researcher’s position within the ranking is determined based on their D-index (Discipline H-index), a metric that exclusively incorporates papers and citation metrics pertinent to the examined discipline. This ensures the ranking accurately reflects a scientist’s impact within the specific field of Immunology, rather than their overall scholarly influence.
Scope of Research and Inclusion Criteria
In the preparation of this ranking, a total of 187,135 scientist profiles identified from a diverse set of bibliometric data sources covering all academic disciplines were reviewed. Specifically, 5 scientists specialized in Immunology were examined in detail for this edition.
To qualify for inclusion in the ranking, a scientist’s D-index needed to be at least 40, ensuring a threshold of demonstrated scholarly impact. Additionally, a majority of a qualifying scientist’s tier publications had to be within the field of Immunology. Awards and notable achievements relevant to Immunology were also taken into account as a supplementary factor.
The D-index threshold applied to identify top researchers is adjusted in increments of 10 depending on the estimated total number of scholars within each discipline. This approach guarantees the inclusion of the top 1% of leading scholars in the field. Furthermore, to maintain discipline-specific relevance, a proximity criterion limits the difference between a scientist’s general H-index and their D-index to 30% or less.
Additional Verification Practices
Recognizing the inherent limitations of raw bibliometric data as an absolute evaluative tool, the researchers behind this ranking conducted meticulous manual verification of all scientist profiles. This process involved cross-referencing publication records against a broad spectrum of trustworthy sources to validate the accuracy and authenticity of data used.
While not directly affecting the ranking position, the quantity of papers published in prominent journals and recognized conference proceedings is regarded as a valuable secondary indicator of a scientist’s contribution to their field.
The ranking position itself is firmly grounded on the D-index calculated from data obtained through OpenAlex and CrossRef—two of the most prominent and well-established bibliometric databases accessible to the research community globally.
