Imam Khomeini International University

Imam Khomeini International University (IKIU) is a public university in Qazvin, Iran. It was established in 1991 after the Iranian Revolution. It is the first international institution of higher education in the country, enabling the university to accept international students from any country.

The university comprises seven faculties. These include the Faculty of Futures Studies, the Faculty of Architecture and Urban Development, the Faculty of Social Sciences, the Faculty of Islamic Sciences and Researches, the Faculty of Literature and Humanity Sciences, the Faculty of Engineering and Technology, and the Faculty of Science.

Imam Khomeini International University offers 30 undergraduate programs and 13 master courses. Some of these academic programs include Islamic jurisprudence, industrial management, applied mathematics, biotechnology, water engineering, and psychology.

IKIU has around 8,800 students (5,489 undergraduates and 1281 postgraduates). It has 183 teaching personnel and 301 administrative staff.

IKIU currently has three research centers, namely, the Research Institute for Future Studies, the Center of Growth and Entrepreneurship, and the Persian Language Center. The latter is the only official academic center designated by Iran’s Ministry of Science, Research, and Technology for teaching the Persian Language to international students in the country.
