IKIU has around 8,800 students (5,489 undergraduates and 1281 postgraduates). It has 183 teaching personnel and 301 administrative staff.

The other Imam Khomeini International University key statistics include a central library with over 100,000 books and periodicals, a science and technology park, and a university startup incubator.

Imam Khomeini International University Research

The top three fields of research of Imam Khomeini International University are materials science, mathematics, and mechanics. Its researchers have published in prestigious journals including Applied Mathematics and Computation, Communications in Nonlinear Science and Numerical Simulation, and Physics Letters A. Many of them have also attended international scholarly conferences such as SOCO: Soft Computing, the International Universities Power Engineering Conference, and the International Symposium on Electromagnetic Launch Technology.

The three most cited publications by Imam Khomeini International University research are written by Abbasbandy. The first is “The application of homotopy analysis method to nonlinear equations arising in heat transfer,” which was published in Physics Letters A in 2006 and has received 802 citations to date. The second most cited work is “Improving Newton-Raphson method for nonlinear equations by modified Adomian decomposition method,” published in Applied Mathematics and Computation in 2003 and has been cited 461 times so far. The third most cited article in “ The application of homotopy analysis method to solve a generalized Hirota–Satsuma coupled KdV equation” featured in Physics Letters A. This work has been cited 403 times by fellow scholars and students.

The university’s other most-cited publications include Abbasbandy and Asady’s (2006) “Ranking of fuzzy numbers by sign distance” published in Information Sciences, with 394 citations; Tan and Abbasbandy’s (2008) “Homotopy analysis method for quadratic Riccati differential equation,” published in Communications in Nonlinear Science and Numerical Simulation with 342 citations; and Ammar et al.’s (2020) “ Effects of COVID-19 home confinement on eating behaviour and physical activity: Results of the ECLB-COVID19 International Online Survey,” published in the Nutrients journal, with 321 citations.

IKIU currently has three research centers, namely, the Research Institute for Future Studies, the Center of Growth and Entrepreneurship, and the Persian Language Center. The latter is the only official academic center designated by Iran’s Ministry of Science, Research, and Technology for teaching the Persian Language to international students in the country.
D-index D-index (Discipline H-index) only includes papers and citation values for an examined discipline in contrast to General H-index which accounts for publications across all disciplines.
