The 5th edition of the Research.com Best Medicine Scientists in Turkey Ranking is grounded in comprehensive bibliometric data primarily sourced from OpenAlex and CrossRef, complemented by multiple other trusted data repositories. These sources provide extensive citation and publication data, integral to formulating robust citation-based metrics. The bibliometric data utilized for calculating the ranking metrics were collected on January 12, 2026, ensuring the inclusion of the most current and accurate information available at the time of ranking compilation.
A scientist’s position within the ranking is determined by their D-index (Discipline H-index), a refined bibliometric indicator that exclusively accounts for papers and citation metrics pertinent to the examined discipline—in this case, Medicine. This discipline-specific approach ensures a precise evaluation of academic impact strictly within the researcher’s field of expertise.
Scope and Criteria of Research Included
The ranking assesses an extensive pool of 188,153 scientist profiles identified through a diverse range of bibliometric data sources, encompassing all scientific disciplines. From this expansive dataset, five scientists specializing specifically in Medicine were examined thoroughly for inclusion in the ranking.
To qualify for the list, a scientist’s D-index must be at least 70, with a majority of their tier publications categorically belonging to the discipline of Medicine. Additional consideration is given to the researcher’s awards and achievements within the field, further reinforcing the verification of their prominence. The threshold D-index for top researchers is dynamically set, increasing in increments of 10 in accordance with the total number of scholars estimated within each discipline, thus guaranteeing the inclusion of the top 1% of leading experts. Furthermore, the difference between a scientist’s overall H-index and their D-index must not exceed 30%, ensuring strong alignment between their general and discipline-specific impact metrics.

Recognizing that raw bibliometric data alone cannot definitively measure a scholar’s output or influence, our team employs rigorous manual verification procedures. Each scientist’s profile is meticulously cross-checked against publications in an extensive array of reputable sources to affirm accuracy and authenticity. Although the number of papers published in leading journals and conference proceedings does not directly influence the ranking position, it serves as a valuable secondary indicator of a researcher’s scholarly contributions within their specific area of study.
