Data Sources and Citation Metrics
The 5th edition of the Research.com Best Immunology Scientists in United Arab Emirates Ranking has been constructed using comprehensive bibliometric data primarily sourced from OpenAlex and CrossRef, supplemented by multiple other reputable data repositories. Bibliometric data were collected on January 12, 2026, ensuring the inclusion of the most up-to-date citation records and publication metadata. Each scientist’s position in the ranking is determined by their D-index (Discipline H-index), a refined metric that accounts exclusively for publications and citations pertinent to the examined discipline—in this case, Immunology. This approach allows for accurate and discipline-specific assessment of scientific impact, mitigating inflation from unrelated fields.
Scope and Criteria of the Ranking
This ranking rigorously examines 187,135 scientist profiles aggregated from diverse bibliometric databases spanning all academic disciplines. Specifically, within the Immunology discipline, 2 scientists based in the United Arab Emirates were identified and evaluated for inclusion.
To qualify for the ranking, a scientist’s D-index must be at least 40. Additionally, a majority of their tier publications need to be directly within the field of Immunology. Consideration was also given to the scientist’s awards and achievements pertinent to Immunology, incorporating qualitative assessment alongside quantitative metrics.
The threshold for the D-index used to select top researchers is dynamically calibrated. It is set as increments of 10 depending on the estimated total number of scholars in each discipline, ensuring that roughly the top 1% of leading experts are represented. Furthermore, to maintain coherence between overall and discipline-specific impact, a proximity criterion is enforced whereby the scientist’s general H-index and their D-index must not diverge by more than 30%.
Verification and Methodological Integrity
At Research.com, we recognize that raw bibliometric data alone cannot serve as an absolute measure of scholarly quality or impact. Accordingly, all scientist profiles included in this ranking underwent meticulous manual verification and were cross-referenced against publications in a wide array of trustworthy sources to ensure accuracy and reliability.
While awards and other qualitative indicators influence eligibility, they do not affect the final ranking position, which is established solely based on each researcher’s D-index derived from OpenAlex and CrossRef databases. The number of publications in high-impact journals and prestigious conference proceedings serves as an important secondary signal of a scientist’s contribution, underscoring the robustness of the assessment process.
OpenAlex and CrossRef stand as the most prominent and widely recognized bibliometric databases available to the research community, lending further credibility and transparency to the ranking procedure.
