Data Sources and Citation Metrics
The 12th edition of the Research.com Best Computer Science Scientists in Vietnam Ranking was constructed using comprehensive bibliometric data primarily sourced from OpenAlex and CrossRef, supplemented by multiple additional authoritative data repositories. The citation-based metrics underpinning the ranking were meticulously gathered on January 12, 2026. A cornerstone metric employed in establishing a scientist's position in the ranking is the D-index (Discipline H-index), which selectively incorporates only publications and citation data relevant to the specific discipline under evaluation, thereby ensuring an accurate reflection of a researcher’s impact within their specialized field.
Scope of Research and Qualification Criteria
The ranking examined an extensive dataset comprising 279,971 scientist profiles identified from an array of bibliometric sources spanning all academic disciplines. Within this comprehensive collection, exactly 9 scientists specializing in Computer Science were evaluated. To qualify for inclusion in the ranking, a scientist was required to have a D-index of at least 30 and demonstrate that a majority of their tier publications were rooted in Computer Science. Additionally, accolades and notable achievements in the field of Computer Science were factored as supplementary indicators of domain-specific excellence.
The threshold D-index for consideration is strategically calibrated in increments of 10 in correlation with the total estimated number of scholars in each discipline, a method designed to ensure inclusive representation of the top 1% of leading researchers. Furthermore, a maximum proximity of 30% or less between a scientist’s general H-index and their D-index was maintained to guarantee disciplinary focus and relevance in ranking assessment.
Verification and Validation Practices
Recognizing the limitations inherent in raw bibliometric data, the research team behind this ranking has implemented rigorous manual verification processes. Each scientist’s profile was cross-examined against a broad spectrum of trusted publication sources to authenticate the accuracy and integrity of the dataset. While the volume of papers published in distinguished journals and conference proceedings does not directly influence the ranking position, such output constitutes a valuable secondary signal reflecting a scientist’s substantive contributions within their research niche.
The ranking positions are firmly grounded in D-index values derived from data curated by OpenAlex and CrossRef—two of the most respected and widely used bibliometric databases accessible to the scientific community globally.
