A scientist’s position in the ranking is determined by their D-index (Discipline H-index), a refined metric that exclusively considers papers and citation counts within the examined discipline. This approach ensures the ranking reflects a researcher’s impact specifically in Business and Management, rather than their overall scientific output.
Scope of Research and Eligibility Criteria
The ranking process involved a comprehensive examination of 279,971 scientist profiles identified from a diverse array of bibliometric sources spanning all scientific disciplines. Within this broad dataset, 8 scientists specializing in Business and Management in Cyprus were evaluated in detail.
To qualify for inclusion in the ranking, a researcher’s D-index had to be at least 30, with the majority of their tier publications concentrated within the Business and Management domain. Additionally, notable awards and achievements within this field were considered as influential factors enhancing their profile.
The threshold for the D-index is calibrated in increments of 10, reflecting the estimated total number of scholars per discipline, while ensuring that the top 1% of leading experts are incorporated into the list. Furthermore, there is a requirement that the proximity between a scientist’s overall H-index and their discipline-specific D-index remains within 30%, verifying a strong alignment of their broader scholarly impact with their Business and Management contributions.
Verification and Quality Assurance
The Research.com team recognizes that raw bibliometric data alone can never fully capture the quality and significance of a scholar’s contributions. Consequently, all scientist profiles were subjected to meticulous manual verification and cross-correlation against publications indexed in a wide range of credible and trustworthy sources.
While the number of papers published in prominent journals and conference proceedings does not directly influence the ranking position, it serves as a valuable secondary indicator of a scientist’s contribution to research in their specific area.
The final ranking positions are established using each researcher’s D-index derived from the data collected via OpenAlex and CrossRef—two of the most authoritative and broadly accessible bibliometric databases available to the global research community.
