Data Sources and Citation Metrics
The 5th edition of the Research.com Best Animal Science and Veterinary Scientists in Oman Ranking is underpinned by comprehensive bibliometric data primarily sourced from OpenAlex and CrossRef, supplemented by multiple other reputable data repositories. The citation-based metrics used to evaluate and position researchers were compiled on January 12, 2026. A scientist’s ranking is determined by their D-index (Discipline H-index), which specifically reflects publication and citation metrics confined to the Animal Science and Veterinary discipline, ensuring a focused and relevant assessment of scholarly impact within the field.
Scope and Criteria of the Ranking
Our evaluation encompassed a broad examination of 279,971 scientist profiles drawn from an array of bibliometric data sources spanning all disciplines. Within this extensive dataset, 2 scientists specializing in Animal Science and Veterinary were identified and assessed. To qualify for inclusion in the ranking, a scientist needed to have a D-index of at least 20, with the majority of their tier publications concentrated in Animal Science and Veterinary. Additionally, awards and significant achievements within this discipline were considered to further validate scientific contribution.
The threshold for the D-index is calibrated in increments of 10 relative to the estimated total number of scholars per discipline, with the aim of incorporating the top 1% of leading experts. Furthermore, a prerequisite for inclusion is maintaining a margin of 30% or less difference between a scientist’s overall H-index and their discipline-specific D-index, ensuring alignment between general and focused research impact.
Verification and Quality Assurance
The Research.com team recognizes that raw bibliometric data alone cannot fully capture the breadth and quality of a scholar’s work. Therefore, all scientist profiles were subject to meticulous manual verification and cross-correlation against publications indexed in a diverse range of trusted sources. While the position in the ranking is explicitly based on the D-index, we acknowledge that the volume of publications in prominent journals and conference proceedings constitutes a valuable secondary indicator of research contribution in the Animal Science and Veterinary field.
