Overview of the University of the West Indies

The University of the West Indies (UWI), established in 1948, is a premier public university system serving the Caribbean region. Originally founded in Mona, Kingston, Jamaica, UWI has expanded to encompass a network of campuses in Jamaica, Trinidad and Tobago (St. Augustine), Barbados (Cave Hill), and Antigua and Barbuda (Five Islands). As a comprehensive and research-intensive institution, UWI enrolls more than 50,000 students across its campuses and offers over 800 programmes through its faculties. UWI is recognized for its central role in advancing higher education and research within the Caribbean and globally.
