Data Sources and Metrics
The 5th edition of the Research.com Best Business and Management Scientists in Romania Ranking is grounded in a robust collection of bibliometric data derived primarily from OpenAlex and CrossRef, supplemented by multiple other reputable data sources. These databases are among the most comprehensive and trusted in the academic community, providing extensive coverage of scholarly publications and citations. The bibliometric data used to devise the citation-based metrics for this ranking were collected on January 12, 2026. A scientist's position in the ranking is determined by their D-index (Discipline H-index), a refined metric that specifically includes only papers and citation metrics from the examined discipline, providing a focused evaluation of research impact within Business and Management.
Scope of Research and Inclusion Criteria
For the compilation of this ranking, 279,971 scientist profiles identified from a variety of bibliometric data sources across all disciplines were examined, with 2,000 scientists specifically from the Business and Management field analyzed in detail. To qualify for inclusion, a scientist’s D-index had to be at least 30. Additionally, a majority of their tier publications needed to be concentrated in the Business and Management domain. Beyond bibliometric measures, awards and professional achievements in the field were also factored into the evaluation process.
The threshold for the D-index is adaptively set in increments of 10 based on the total estimated number of scholars within each discipline, ensuring that the top 1% of leading experts are invariably included. Moreover, a critical requirement is that the proximity between a scientist’s overall H-index and their discipline-specific D-index does not exceed 30%, reinforcing the discipline-focused integrity of the ranking.
Verification Practices
Understanding the limitations of raw bibliometric data as a sole evaluative tool, the experts behind this ranking have employed meticulous manual verification and cross-correlation practices. Each scientist profile was thoroughly reviewed and matched against publications listed in a wide array of trustworthy academic sources to affirm accuracy and relevance.
While not directly influencing a researcher’s rank, the number of articles published in prominent journals and conference proceedings is acknowledged as a valuable secondary indicator of scholarly contribution in a specific field. The ranking itself is established exclusively by each researcher’s D-index, computed utilizing data from OpenAlex and CrossRef, the preeminent bibliometric databases accessible to the global research community.
