What is D-index acceptance threshold for Immunology
The D-index threshold for accepting a scientist to be examined is set to 40 if most of their publications are in the area of Immunology. The approval criteria for scholars to be considered into the ranking of top scholars are based on the D-index, ratio of the contributions made within the selected area in addition to the awards and achievements of the scholars. The D-index threshold for including best researchers is set as an increment of 10 depending on the total number of researchers assessed for each area od study whilst guaranteeing that the top 1% of leading researchers are considered into the ranking. We estimate a proximity of 30% or less between a researcher’s general H-index and their D-index.

Other verification practices
Since our leading mission is to make sure that only genuine scientists are listed in Research.com ranking we believe that raw data are never meant to be a full means to quantify the contributions of scientists. Because of that we manually check every profile and cross-correlate it against publications in a wide range of reliable sources. While it’s not a metric defining a researcher’s position in our ranking, the amount of documents published in prominent journals and conference proceedings should constitute a reliable secondary implication of their contribution to research in a selected area of science. Position in the ranking is based on every scholar’s D-index using data compiled from OpenAlex and CrossRef, which are the most trustworthy and well-known bibliometric databases of this type accessible to the scientific community. A detailed explanation of our research procedures can be found on our methodology page.

Our mission
Our objective is to motivate scientists, entrepreneurs and administrative bodies worldwide to investigate where top experts are heading and to give an opportunity for the entire scientific community to discover who the leading experts in specific areas of study, in various countries, or even within research institutions are.
