Data Sources and Metrics
The 5th edition of the Research.com Best Business and Management Scientists in Indonesia Ranking relies on comprehensive bibliometric data primarily sourced from OpenAlex and CrossRef, supplemented by multiple other reputable data repositories. The citation-based metrics used to devise this ranking were compiled from data collected on January 12, 2026. Fundamentally, a scientist’s position within the ranking is determined by their Discipline H-index, or D-index. This metric evaluates a researcher’s impact exclusively within the examined discipline, incorporating only the relevant papers and citations pertinent to Business and Management.
Scope of Research and Ranking Criteria
This ranking is derived from an extensive dataset encompassing 279,971 scientist profiles identified from diverse bibliometric sources, covering all academic disciplines. Within this wide pool, 2,000 scientists specializing in Business and Management were specifically analyzed. To qualify for inclusion in the ranking, a researcher must attain a minimum D-index of 30 in Business and Management, with the majority of their tier publications concentrated in this field. Additionally, awards and notable achievements within the discipline were factored into the evaluation.
The D-index threshold is dynamically set in increments of 10 based on the estimated total number of scholars within each discipline, ensuring a robust inclusion of the top 1% of leading experts per field. Furthermore, to maintain consistency and relevance, a qualifying scientist’s general H-index and D-index are required to be within 30% of each other, promoting alignment between overall scholarly impact and discipline-specific influence.
Verification and Methodological Integrity
Recognizing that raw bibliometric data alone cannot fully capture the multifaceted quality of scientific contributions, the researchers behind this ranking undertook meticulous manual verification of all scientist profiles. Each profile was cross-validated against publications documented in a broad spectrum of trusted academic sources to ensure accuracy and reduce potential biases.
While the quantity of papers published in prominent journals and conference proceedings does not directly influence a researcher's position in the Research.com ranking, it remains an invaluable secondary indicator of their scholarly contribution within the field.
Ranking positions are derived using comprehensive information sourced from OpenAlex and CrossRef — widely acknowledged as two of the most authoritative and extensive bibliometric databases accessible to the global research community.
