The bibliometric data utilized to devise the citation-based metrics for this ranking were collected on January 12, 2026. Ranking positions are determined using the researchers’ Discipline H-index, or D-index, which selectively accounts for papers and citation metrics strictly within the examined discipline of Business and Management.
Scope of Research Considered
A total of 279,971 scientist profiles identified from diverse bibliometric data repositories were examined across all scientific disciplines, with 4 scientists specifically identified within the Business and Management domain. To qualify for inclusion in this ranking, each scientist’s D-index had to be at least 30, ensuring a high standard of disciplinary impact. Additionally, the majority of tier publications for each qualifying scientist needed to pertain directly to Business and Management. Awards and significant achievements in the field were also considered to complement the bibliometric evaluation.
The D-index threshold for top researchers is dynamically set in increments of 10, depending on the overall number of scholars estimated within each discipline, to maintain a representative inclusion of the highest performing scientists. This calibrated threshold also guarantees that the top 1% of leading scholars in the discipline are incorporated into the list. Furthermore, a proximity criterion mandates that a scientist’s general H-index and their D-index differ by no more than 30%, reinforcing the alignment of their broader scholarly impact with their specific disciplinary contributions.

Each profile is carefully cross-correlated against publications indexed in an array of trustworthy sources to confirm accuracy and relevance. While the number of papers published in prominent journals and conference proceedings does not directly affect the ranking position, it remains an important secondary indicator of a scientist’s contribution to their specific scientific area.
