The University of Akureyri (Háskólinn á Akureyri, UNAK) was founded in 1987 and is located in Akureyri, the largest town in northern Iceland. As a public institution, UNAK operates with a strong regional and national mandate, balancing rigorous research and a teaching-centered approach.
