Data Sources and Metrics
The 5th edition of the Research.com Best Psychology Scientists in Turkey Ranking is grounded primarily on bibliometric data derived from authoritative databases, notably OpenAlex and CrossRef, alongside multiple other reputable data sources. The citation-based metrics utilized for the construction of this ranking were collected as of January 12, 2026. A scientist’s position within the ranking is determined by their D-index (Discipline H-index), a metric that exclusively accounts for papers and citation data specific to the evaluated discipline, thereby providing a focused and discipline-relevant measure of research impact.
Scope of Research and Eligibility Criteria
The foundation of this ranking involved a comprehensive examination of 279,971 scientist profiles aggregated from diverse bibliometric sources covering all disciplines, including 5 scientists specifically within the field of Psychology in Turkey. To qualify for inclusion in the ranking, a scientist’s D-index was required to be at least 30, with a majority of their tier publications concentrated in the area of Psychology. Additionally, considerations were given to the researchers’ awards and notable achievements within the field.
The D-index threshold for top researchers is dynamically set in increments of 10 relative to the estimated total number of scholars in each discipline. This scaling approach ensures the inclusion of the top 1% of leading scholars within each field. Furthermore, a prerequisite for eligibility included maintaining a proximity of 30% or less between a scientist’s general H-index and their D-index, ensuring consistency between overall and discipline-specific research impact.
Verification and Validation Practices
Recognizing that raw bibliometric data alone is insufficient for absolute evaluation of scholarly output, the Research.com team implemented rigorous manual verification procedures. Each scientist profile was meticulously reviewed and cross-checked against publications sourced from a broad array of trustworthy and reputable academic outlets. Although not a direct factor influencing a scientist’s rank, the number of publications in prominent journals and conference proceedings was regarded as an important secondary indicator of a researcher’s contribution within their specific field.
The ranking positions are formally established by applying the D-index metric, with data sourced predominantly from OpenAlex and CrossRef—two of the most prominent and widely respected bibliometric databases available to the global research community.
