To qualify for inclusion, researchers were required to have a D-index of at least 30, reflecting a significant level of scholarly influence in Mathematics. Furthermore, a majority of their tier publications had to pertain specifically to Mathematics, ensuring disciplinary relevance. Consideration was also given to the scientist’s awards and noteworthy achievements within the field, adding qualitative depth to the evaluation.
The threshold for the D-index was dynamically set in increments of 10 relative to the estimated population size of scholars within each discipline, thereby guaranteeing that the top 1% of leading scientists are consistently incorporated. Additionally, to maintain coherence between general and discipline-specific impact, the difference between a scientist’s overall H-index and their D-index was maintained at a proximity of 30% or less.
Verification and Validation Practices
Recognizing that raw bibliometric data alone cannot serve as an absolute measure of scholarly contribution, the Research.com team conducted meticulous manual verification of all scientist profiles. This process involved cross-correlating publications against a broad spectrum of trusted academic sources to authenticate the accuracy and relevance of each profile.
While awards, achievements, and publication counts in leading journals and prestigious conference proceedings do not directly influence a researcher’s position in the ranking, they serve as valuable secondary indicators of scientific contribution within Mathematics.
